RM of Birch Hills’s story
The Rural Municipality of Birch Hills No. 460 became a rural municipality on December 11, 1911. It takes its name from the hills lying to the south and east and from the birch trees that once covered the area in great numbers.
The RM sits in north-central Saskatchewan on Highway 3, southeast of Prince Albert and north of Saskatoon, in the aspen parkland. The town of Birch Hills is surrounded by the municipality, and the hamlets of Brancepeth and Hagen lie within it. The Muskoday First Nation reserve is its neighbour. Today the RM is run by an elected council that meets on the second Wednesday of each month, with its office in the town of Birch Hills.
